I received tickets to LEGO KidsFest in exchange for this review. The thoughts and opinions below are entirely my own.
A model of Lightning McQueen, a build-your-own LEGO car and race area, a gigantic pile of LEGO bricks...what's not to enjoy, right?! Our kids loved LEGO KidsFest in Milwaukee last night! They spent hours creating their own cars out of LEGO bricks, racing them down ramps, building their own LEGO brick masterpieces, and exploring awesome LEGO displays.
Jo enjoyed building in the LEGO construction zone. She was so into it that it was difficult to tear her away to check out another area of LEGO KidsFest! Once she saw what C was doing, she couldn't wait to build her own car and get involved in the races.
Our kids have developed a love for building with LEGO bricks in the past year. It's fun to watch their imaginations grow and flourish. We were excited to see their love for cars pair well with their newfound interest in LEGO at the event. C and Jo raced their cars for about an hour!
When their little legs started to get tired, we sat at a table and watched LEGO cartoons on the big screen provided by Cartoon Network. Both kids laughed throughout the cartoons! It was a welcome sensory break from the noise and activity of the rest of the event. There was also a reading area with bean bag chairs. We ran out of time to check it out, but it would be another respite for kids in need of a sensory break!
C and Jo are easily overwhelmed by large events. I was impressed with how well they handled LEGO KidsFest, and the two options for sensory breaks for kids who might need it. If you have a child who is particularly sensitive to noise, I would suggest bringing noise-reducing headphones to this event. Some display areas are especially loud and headphones would help your child to enjoy the event in its entirety.
We had an awesome time at LEGO KidsFest and highly recommend it to other families with budding LEGO enthusiasts!
